Mr. Robert A. Wise brings over 33 years of combined public and private law enforcement experience to JCI as the Vice President of the New Jersey Division. Prior to his current position, Robert had been the Vice President of a prominent New York based security company for six years. Mr. Wise was responsible for the daily operation of the New Jersey enterprise overseeing major government and private contracts.
Born and raised in the city of Newark, Mr. Wise attended Newark public schools, graduated from Plainfield High School, and attended William Paterson University. After college, Mr. Wise entered the business world at Fidelity Union Trust Company as a computer operator. After his positive experience in business, Mr. Wise’s heart turned to public service and he joined the Newark Police Department in 1981. While undergoing the challenging physical and educational training, he was presented with the Pride Award and received numerous merit awards before graduating from the Newark Police Academy. During his illustrious career with the Newark Police Department, he earned (84) command citations, (1) honor, and (9) valor awards.
Soon after his assignment to Newark’s South Ward, Mr. Wise earned the rank of Detective and investigated crimes in the South and East Wards. He was recognized by the police department for his integrity and was assigned to the esteemed Internal Affairs Bureau, where he enforced the integrity and professionalism of the Newark Police Department. After earning advancement to the rank of Sergeant, Mr. Wise was assigned to the Police Director’s Office as an aide, partnering with the former Newark Police Director Joseph Santiago to successfully improve the quality of life for Newark citizens.
Mr. Wise was later asked to lead the Dignitary Protection Unit, where his numerous responsibilities included transportation and security for Mayor Sharpe James, the Police Director, and the City Hall complex. He also coordinated presidential, gubernatorial, and papal visits with various law enforcement agencies including the Secret Service, FBI, NJ State Police, and other county and local municipalities. After serving as Vice President of the Bronze Shields police organization and Security Investigator for Beth Israel Medical Center, Mr. Wise retired from the Newark Police Department in 2007.
